Endoscopic Brow Lift in North Carolina

Over time, wrinkling your forehead when in thought or during periods of stress can cause deep creases or sagging skin to develop in your brow region. The endoscopic brow lift is a procedure that corrects this and similar issues involving the area above the eyes. The minimally invasive approach uses an endoscopic instrument in order to allow the surgeon to closely view the underlying tissues.

What Is the Endoscopic Brow Lift?

Individuals who are bothered by sagging skin in the brow region may elect to undergo endoscopic brow lift surgery in order to rejuvenate the area and achieve a more youthful appearance.

During the procedure, our plastic surgeons use an endoscope, a pencil-shaped instrument that permits a clear view of the problematic tissues without having to make large incisions. When the tissues that cause the furrowing are located, the surgeon then removes or alters them in a way that allows the skin in this area to relax.

Who Can Benefit?

Those who complain of symptoms of aging in the brow area such as drooping brows, glabellar creases or crow’s feet may be candidates for surgery. Other indications include asymmetric brows, horizontal lines and furrows, distorted brow shape, and excessive upper eyelid skin.

The Endoscopic Brow Lift Procedure

Your surgery will take approximately 1-2 hours and may be conducted with local or general anesthesia depending, in part, on your preference, as well as recommendations by your surgeon.

Prior to the start of the procedure, your face is first thoroughly cleansed, and your hair tied back and trimmed behind the hairline. Your surgeon will make 4-5 incisions, approximately two centimeters behind the hairline, and the endoscope will be inserted. The instrument remains in place during the surgery, so the surgeon can view and reshape the underlying structures of the forehead.

The forehead skin is then lifted, and the muscles and tissues adjusted to create a smoother appearance. The brows may be elevated and secured with sutures under the skin or with a special fixation device behind the hairline.

Endoscopic Brow Lift Aftercare

Fortunately, the endoscopic method ensures a shorter and easier recovery compared with the traditional brow lift. After only seven days, most individuals are able to return to their normal routine. Even so, it is important to adhere to your surgeon’s recommended aftercare plan.
