Brow Lift in North Carolina

The brow lift is a minimally invasive surgery that is used to rejuvenate the area above the eyes. The brows provide a frame for the eyes, so it is essential that they play their intended supporting role in your facial appearance.

The brow lift at the UNC Aesthetic, Laser & Burn Center can help restore the eyebrow arch, open eye area, and correct wrinkles so that your eyes and brow look as young as you feel.

What is a Brow Lift?

During a brow lift, the tissues that cause the furrowing or drooping are removed or altered. The brow lift is often done with an endoscope, a pencil-like instrument that allows the surgeon to see underlying issues.

Who Can Benefit?

Men and women who demonstrate drooping or descending eyebrows may benefit from the brow lift. If this description fits you, or if you suffer from any of the following symptoms, you may be a good candidate for this cosmetic procedure:

  • Excess upper eyelid skin
  • Crow’s feet
  • Asymmetric brow
  • Glabellar creases
  • Horizontal lines and furrows

The Brow Lift Procedure

Before your brow lift can begin, your face is cleansed thoroughly and your hair is tied back and trimmed below the hairline. In the endoscopic technique, your surgeon makes 4-5 small incisions approximately two centimeters behind your hairline. Next, the forehead skin is lifted, and the muscles and tissues in this area are altered to achieve a smooth appearance. The brows are elevated and secured with sutures under the skin or with titanium screws behind the hairline. Finally, stitches or clips are used to close the small incisions.

A brow lift procedure lasts approximately 1-2 hours and is conducted with local anesthesia and intravenous sedation, although general anesthesia is an option.

Brow Lift Aftercare

After a brow lift in North Carolina, you may experience some numbness, nausea, incision discomfort and mild swelling. By following the aftercare steps provided by your plastic surgeon, you should be able to return to your normal routine after approximately seven days. Full healing requires about three weeks.
