Breast implant augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures performed in the United States. Here in Chapel Hill, just minutes from Raleigh, our board certified plastic surgeons at the UNC Aesthetic, Laser & Burn Center have been providing women with amazing results through breast enhancement surgery.
Using saline or silicone gel breast implants, this cosmetic procedure can help to enlarge a woman’s breast size and enhance breast shape. In addition to creating a more feminine appearance and improving your self-image and clothing options, breast augmentation can be used to resolve issues such as:
“After three babies, I just wanted to look like me again. Today wearing a triangle top bikini and seeing the big grin from my husband made this one of the best decisions in my life. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”
Using saline or silicone implants, our plastic surgeons in North Carolina can perform breast augmentation surgery to help women who are unhappy with the shape, projection, and/or size of their breasts.
Breast augmentation is suitable for a variety of candidates because it can be greatly individualized to meet each patient’s needs.
Many women can benefit from breast augmentation at the UNC Aesthetic Center. In order to undergo the procedure, you should be a healthy nonsmoker, and also understand the risks and benefits involved with plastic surgery.
Before you undergo breast augmentation surgery in North Carolina, your plastic surgeon will go over the many options available to you, and help you decide which will be best to achieve your aesthetic goals.
Some of the key choices you will have before your breast augmentation surgery include:
When beginning your outpatient breast augmentation, you will be placed under a general anesthesia. Your plastic surgeon will make the incisions in the location discussed and lift the tissue to make room for the implants. After the implant has been inserted below the nipple, the incisions will be closed with sutures.
During your one-to-two week recovery, you will wear a special bra to aid in healing, and may be prescribed medication to manage discomfort.
You should understand that implants are not guaranteed to last a lifetime, and may need to be replaced or altered with age. Possible complications following breast augmentation include hematoma, seroma, infection, and inflammation.
