Ultrapulse CO2 in North Carolina

Ultrapulse Encore Fractional CO2 Laser

The Lumenis Ultrapulse is an advanced aesthetic laser platform hosting Active FX , Deep FX, and Total FX treatment options. The Ultrapulse fractional laser offers powerful energy and precise tools to deliver an effective laser treatment.

Ultrapulse CO2 Fractional laser treatment is designed to deliver noticeable results. Most patients will appreciate the visible results of treatment shortly after the 1-3 week recovery period. Because the treatment is stimulating new healthy collagen production, the patients will continue to see improvement and a tightening effect over the course of six months following treatment. Our bodies do not produce collagen overnight; therefore, results will continue through this period.

CO2 laser treatments are safe and effective for many areas of the body, which allows physicians to provide a more complete and beautiful result. Treatment is common for face, neck, décolleté, and hands, as well as other areas.

Active FX

Active FX superficial ablation is most effective on:

  • Fine lines
  • Texture and shallow acne scarring
  • Uneven pigmentation from sun damage, melasma, as well as precancerous cells (actinic keratosis) which resemble the appearance of sunspots but can lead to more serious issues such as skin cancer.

Deep FX

Deep FX is as it suggests. CO2 energy delivered to deeper levels of the skin, providing dramatic results for:

  • Deep lines, wrinkles, and the appearance of aged and lax skin.

Deep FX treatment is commonly used to reverse the aging appearance around the eyes and mouth, the dynamic areas of the face where many see the most significant collagen breakdown.

Total FX

Total FX treatment is often performed with Ultrapulse, as patients today present multiple skin conditions. Equipped with the ability to tailor the treatment with the use of multiple hand pieces and energies, full facial rejuvenation is available in a quick and powerful treatment, addressing the unique needs of each patient.

What is Fractional Laser Technology?

Fractional CO2 treatments are superior to previous laser technology. They are less invasive and risky, providing a more controlled and precise treatment with faster recovery.

Previous CO2 technology treated the entire skin surface – like mowing the entire lawn, while today’s fractional lasers aerate the lawn, using precise energy levels and depths to ablate tiny zones of the skin, leaving elements of the surface intact.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

CO2 fractional treatments are traditionally provided as a single treatment. With proper skincare and the use of sunscreen, the results of treatment may last years. Depending upon the expectations and your skin, we will discuss the treatment recommendations we have for you during your consultations.

What is the Downtime/Recovery With Ultrapulse CO2 Treatment?

Just after treatment is completed, a topical ointment will be generously applied to the treated area. You will feel the sensation of heat, similar to sunburn for a few hours initially, and this will subside and not return.

The treated area will need consistent re-application of topical ointment for the following 7-10 days. Some mild to moderate swelling and darkened appearance of tissue will be present during this time.

You should be able to return to work and social activities after this period. The use of non-irritating sunscreen and concealer can be very effective for the next few weeks as the healthy new skin surface will be pink and will take some time to return to natural coloring.
