The Lumenis One platform is considered a gold standard in today’s leading physician practices.
IPL from Lumenis One offers the full spectrum of treatment options for patients wanting correction of uneven pigmentation from sun damage, freckles, and rosacea.
The Lumenis One platform offers multiple laser and light energies, allowing us to effectively address multiple concerns during a single treatment.
Although wrinkles and fine lines are signs of age, pigmentation issues present on the skin create an appearance that is viewed by many as unattractive and often suggests greater premature signs of aging.
A single treatment is going to show significant improvement and results. As the patient discusses treatment options in our office during a consultation, we will help to determine individual concerns and make appropriate recommendations. It is common to see a patient elect 2-3 treatments depending upon their needs and expectations.
There is very little-to-no downtime with IPL treatment.
Immediately following treatment, patients will feel, and often appear, warm and flushed–much like you’d feel after too much time in the sun. This quickly diminishes. All pigmentation (brown or red) that was addressed in treated area will initially darken. This is a sign of effective treatment.
For the next several days, patients will see the darker appearance until the skin has sloughed away. Treated areas on the body may take a few weeks before they have completely sloughed away. In any case, most patients can resume their regular work and social routines immediately following IPL treatment.
IPL treatments are effective and greatly appreciated by patients. The use of sunscreen and proper skincare can extend the results of treatment. Continued exposure to sunlight and environmental triggers may encourage the need for more treatment at a later time. The time between treatments varies greatly from patient to patient.
Good candidates for IPL treatment are patients with fair or light skin. IPL (broad spectrum light) is attracted to pigment, so tanned (from natural sunlight as well as self-tan products) or dark skin is more susceptible to injury from this treatment.
We encourage the skin be free of self-tanner or natural tan at the time of treatment. For patients with darker skin, we offer other effective laser technologies effective for pigmentation without risk of injury.
In addition to the IPL (broad spectrum light) modality on the Lumenis One platform, we offer an enhanced treatment for patients who have common issues with vascular show (red and blue veins). The 1064 ND Yag laser is effective for treating:
Whether patients want to address spider veins on the legs only or are interested in treatment to improve the appearance of pigmentation, the ND Yag handpiece is a valuable tool to spot treat multiple vascular imperfections.
